Dining
Each resident receives 500 dining points each month and menus are quoted in dining points. Generally speaking, 500 dining points equate to a month's dinners in a mix of the Latitude 50 and Crystal dining rooms. Residents who exceed the 500 points can purchase additional points.
We are often asked why dining points are not optional, prorated, or carried over from month to month. Mutual 50 pays Sodexo, our dining services operator, several hundred thousand dollars each month to staff and stock our dining services and we pay that regardless of whether our residents make use of the dining services. The Board closely monitors service and food quality on a continuing basis.
Crystal Dining Room
Dinners are served in the Crystal by reservation only Tuesday through Friday from 4p to 7p with traditional table service.
Crystal has three menus, the Dinner Menu which rotates weekly, an Always Available Menu which does not change with the Dinner Menu rotation, and a Specials Menu which changes daily.
Latitude 50 Dining Room
Latitude 50 is open 7 days a week. The Breakfast Menu is served between 8:00a and 10:00a. The Lunch and Dinner and Specials Menus are served 11:00a to 3:00p and 4:00p to 7:00p.
Latitude 50 also provides takeout and delivers to residents 8a to 7p.
Latitude has three menus: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, and Daily Specials.
Special Dining Experiences (not included in Dining Points)
Theme Dinners are served once a month, generally in Lortscher Hall. For example, a Titanic Dinner featured the dinner menu from the last night on the Titanic.
Elegant Chef's Dinners, with seating for 10-12, are also offered once month and are served in Hearth Room 2.
